Pre Purchase Survey - A comprehensive and objective look at a vessel before purchase is completed. Survey must be performed out of the water, and may include engine oil analysis and a sea trial.

Condition and value survey- Usually conducted for insurance updating purposes. Sometimes can be conducted in water, dependent on insurance company desires. A slightly less detailed report than a pre purchase survey, it is intended to confirm that the vessel remains in a seaworthy condition and is being adequately maintained.

Damage survey - Inspect and report damage and estimate of repair costs according to owner or insurance company desires
